Past and future meet in steel-clad terraced houses with history in the backyard
There are places where the presence of history can be felt immediately, and just outside Silkeborg, on Jernaldervej in Grauballe, ten new terraced houses have been built. The historic street name – literally meaning “Iron Age road” – is no coincidence. Just one kilometre from here, the Grauballe Man was discovered in 1952 – a 2,000-year-old bog body that has given researchers unique insight into the past.
With a mix of brick, wood panels and steel profiles, the materials bring together contemporary housing construction with the natural, beautiful landscape surrounding Silkeborg and Grauballe. The roofs and facades of the terraced houses are clad in DS Nordic Click Seam 275 in the colour Dark Silver, lending the development an exclusive and timeless appearance.
Just as the conserving qualities of the bog preserved the Grauballe Man in astonishing detail, DS Nordic Click Seam is a strong and durable choice, ensuring a long-lasting solution – year after year.
DS Nordic Click Seam creates cohesion
Since the launch of DS Nordic Click Seam in 2016, the profile has been a favourite among architects and developers. This is due in part to its clean appearance with concealed fixings, but also because the profile is a cost-effective alternative to other roof and facade claddings.
With its long, clean lines, DS Nordic Click Seam emphasises a simple, modern expression, while the steel profiles create a striking contrast to brick and wood. The concealed fixing provides a smooth and elegant surface that complements the architectural aesthetic. At the same time, the simple click system ensures efficient installation.
Materials that come full circle
The steel cladding is made from GreenCoat® steel from SSAB, based on innovative technology with a bio-based surface coating. DS Stålprofil is also Cradle to Cradle® Certified Bronze, underlining our commitment to quality and responsible use of materials.
